About Mirissa

Mirissa is a small coastal town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, known for its beautiful palm-fringed beaches, laid-back atmosphere, and most importantly, as one of the world's best destinations for whale watching. The main beach is a beautiful crescent of golden sand with calm, turquoise waters perfect for swimming and surfing. Mirissa is particularly famous for blue whale and sperm whale sightings, with whale watching tours departing daily during the season. The area is also home to dolphins, making the boat trips even more exciting.

Beyond whale watching, Mirissa offers excellent surf breaks for all levels, beautiful sunset viewpoints, excellent seafood restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife scene. The nearby Coconut Tree Hill offers stunning panoramic views of the coastline and is particularly popular at sunrise and sunset.
